Arts & Crafts Festivals in North Georgia
North Georgia is full of wonderful sights and sounds. Quaint mountain towns dot the landscape and offer a great variety of family vacation destinations. If you’re planning to visit or vacation in the north Georgia mountains this year, we hope you will stay at one of our riverfront rental cabins. Rosemary Lewis, frequent visitor of Rainbow Cabins, shares her unique perspective about the many activities that North Georgia has to offer.
The annual Arts in the Park Festival in downtown Blue Ridge occurs every Memorial Day weekend. After 35 years, it has grown into one of the premier juried shows in the Southeast. Browsing through the park, under the big trees, you’ll see over 200 arts, crafts and food booths. There will be demonstrations, music and dancing—all for a $5.00 admission fee. Dogs and kids under 12 are free.
The Butternut Creek Festival in Blairsville is on July 24-25, 2010. It is held in Meeks Park along the sandy banks of Butternut Creek. Only the best are there to display and sell their works of basketry, fine art, fabric art, decorative painting, glasswork, jewelry, metal working, photography, pottery, scrimshaw and woodturning. Come from 10 AM-5 PM. Meeks Park is on the south side of Hwy 76/515. There’s free admission & parking, live demos and entertainment—great food & great fun!
The Wildlife & Nature Art Festival and Expo is Saturday and Sunday, 9/19-20/2010, from 10 AM to 5 PM in the downtown Blue Ridge City Park. Some of the best wildlife and nature artists and photographers from the southeast will be in attendance. The Expo will showcase demonstrations of fly fishing, mountain biking, camping and boating. There are two days of herding dog demos as well. This Festival is one of my favorites because it encompasses everything I love about the mountains. Towards the end of September, the days are cooler, and the leaves are starting to change color and fall. What a beautiful time to rent a cabin managed by Rainbowcabins.com and spend some quality time with your family.
